Name that nation contest!
Southern Sudan has voted to split off from the rest of Sudan and become a new country. This should come as no surprise after Sudan's history of civil war and military coups, and considering the sharp divide between Sudan's Arabic majority Muslim north and the black-African south that is more religiously diverse.
So what should the Sudanese call their new country?
I am a political science and journalism graduate. I work as a reporter in St. Lawrence County, New York, but spent most of the last 30 years in Lexington, Kentucky. If you knew me you might say I am happily married, angrily employed and well-read. I speak softly and carry a big ego. I am also a trivia expert, a jack of all intellectual trades.
